Visit to La Louvière

On July 19, 2012, as part of his “City Trips Initiative”, Ambassador Howard Gutman was welcomed to the city of La Louvière. The visit began with a presentation of the city at the Hotel de Ville, given by Mayor Jacques Gobert. Mayor Gobert, along with representatives from the city council, then hosted a lunch for the embassy delegation at La Louvière restaurant Céma Passion.

Following the lunch, Ambassador Gutman and the embassy delegation received a sneak-peak tour of the new Johnson&Johnson distribution center, highlighting the American-Belgian business relationship. Ambassador Gutman also received tours of the newly christened UNESCO world heritage site, Bois-du-Luc Mining site, as well as the Center for Engravings and Prints. These two sites underlined the historical and cultural significance of the city of La Louvière.
